Pumpkin Casting Part 1: Ghosts or something, I guess.

In today's blog post, I announce the first cast member from my newest film.

Receiving top billing in my next film (currently titled Pumpkin) is Hartselle, AL born actor/musician Lane Hughes, who is also a close friend.

Lane will be playing the part of Johnny Knickerbocker, a young hitchhiker who survives one attack on his life, only to stumble into the clutches of an even more sinister killer as the story progresses.

Lane got his start in acting a few years ago when he teamed up with Adam Wingard on the ultra low budget film Pop Skull. Not only did he star in the film, but he also co-wrote and co-produced. Pop Skull went on to play at AFI and in Rome, and found American distribution through Halo-8. Lane's performance in Pop Skull received praise, including this blurb from LA Splash: "Hughes gave a truly magnetic Manson vibe the entire time."

Since Pop Skull, Lane has gone on to appear in numerous other films and even a Xiu Xiu music video. One of his latest films, Autoerotic, just hit Amazon on Demand by way of IFC Midnight. He also has a part in the upcoming Anchor Bay release of A Horrible Way to Die as well as a role in Adam Wingard's newest film, You're Next.

Even though Lane and I are from the same town and have lived here our entire lives, we met by chance in Atlanta, Georgia on the set of Rob Zombie's Halloween 2. The entire day was a bonding experience for Lane, myself, and my best friend Bart Hyatt as we tried to survive Haddonfield and keep our sanity intact. Since then Lane has been a big part of our group and I am happy to finally have him in one of my films. This is just one of a couple of collaborations between the two of us that hope to see the light of day in the next year or so, and I will be blogging about the other as we get more groundwork laid out on it.
Here is the world's very first look at Lane Hughes in Pumpkin!
